Driving the convertible over the mountain passes
South Tyrol with the top down
“Driving a convertible over the mountain passes” is our Brando Signature experience for anyone who wants to experience the mountains from a different perspective. A journey with the sun on your skin, the wind in your hair and that special sense of lightness that comes when the city slowly fades away behind you and the mountains draw ever closer.
The journey begins with a sense of setting off. Through the hamlets of the Gsies Valley, past farmhouses, timber-framed buildings and little scenes of everyday life, which, when viewed from the car, almost look like something out of an old film. Then the view opens up. The valley widens, the air grows cooler, and my thoughts grow calmer.
With the roof down, we head out into the Val Pusteria/Pustertal valley and on towards the Sexten Dolomites and the Passo Monte Croce/Kreuzberg pass, to the place where South Tyrol really shows off its best side. Bends, light, larch trees, rock. An elegant rhythm of driving, looking, stopping and dreaming on.
“Driving a convertible over the mountain passes” is an invitation to experience the region in a pleasantly laid-back way. Perhaps with a playlist that evokes a sense of freedom. Perhaps with a pair of sunglasses that you don’t take off. Perhaps with that slight sense of nostalgia that you only recognise when a day suddenly feels like a memory, even whilst it’s still happening.
It is a trip for modern travellers who are not looking for the obvious, but for the atmosphere behind it: the light across the ridges, the scent of the mountain road, the quiet promise of an afternoon with no fixed plans.
The exit isn’t much to write home about. More like a lovely secret on four wheels. A Brando.Moment, created for people who know that luxury sometimes simply means ‘ ’: Time, space and the freedom to enjoy the journey itself.
